THE ANNOYANCE SUMMER INTENSIVE: June 26 – 30, 2017
Get immersed in the Annoyance with a week-long intensive!
The Annoyance Summer Intensive is a five day experience with some of our most veteran instructors – including Susan Messing and Mick Napier and an optional puppetry workshop with Sam Locke on Wednesday evening! Over the course of the five days, you’ll become familiar with the Annoyance philosophy, guided by our Artistic Director, Mick Napier and based on the approach found in his book Improvise. Scene from the Inside Out.
This year’s Summer Intensive will be Monday, June 26th through Friday, June 30th.
Each day is divided into a morning class (9am-12pm) and an afternoon class (1:30-4:30pm). With a special evening class with Mick Napier (5:30-8pm) one night of the week.
We are known for giving specific, individualized feedback to our students and helping them to develop and maintain a strong individual voice in their improvisation. Our classes focus on scenic improvisation, that is, we don’t focus on performance games, rules of improvisation, or performance styles such as “The Harold”. Through scene work, classes address the initiation of a scene; developing and maintaining strong characters; learning to hold onto your initial choices and expanding on (heightening) the choices you have made; and learning to become deft at creating and weaving unexpected, character-based choices into your work.
There is no pre-requisite needed for this intensive.
We maintain small class sizes, and all of our teachers are ensemble members who have learned and performed with Annoyance, and thus have first hand experience with the way we approach improvisation at Annoyance. There is a sixteen student maximum for this intensive.
This event has sold out.
