On-Camera Level One with Robyn Coffin

Ready to jump start your on-camera acting career? This is the place to start.  The Annoyance has teamed up with Vagabond School of the arts to bring students one of our most requested classes: On Camera work!   This course is the foundation for Vagabond’s three-level on-camera program designed to help you become a confident actor in front of the camera.
This course is ideal for:
  • Improvisers who spend most of their time on stage
  • Adult actors wanting to expand their skill set
  • Any actor wanting to refresh their on-camera skill set

Over the 6-week Level 1 curriculum, you’ll learn:
  • Audition technique for both commercial and small film/TV roles
  • Who’s who in film/TV casting in Chicago
  • How film/TV acting is different from theatre/improv acting
  • How to analyze scripts for the information you need for a successful audition
  • The difference between the wide variety of on-camera copy you’ll receive as an actor in Chicago, including: commercials, day player roles (under-5 roles for television), small film roles, industrials, and more.

You’ll work on-camera every day of the class and receive notes from your instructor. You’ll also gain valuable insights as you watch your classmates work and build your skills by hearing their notes as well. Classes 3 and 6 will take place at Vagabond’s training facility at:4001 N Ravenswood, Suite 504
Chicago, IL 60613
More about Vagabond:
Vagabond School of the Arts, Chicago’s newest performing arts institution, was founded by Michael and Becca McCracken in 2013. As two professionals with a lifetime of experience in the performing arts, Becca and Michael sought to strengthen the performing artist community in Chicago by giving it a creative, supportive, and professional home. Nestled in a four studio space in North Center on Ravenswood, Vagabond offers classes in On-Camera acting technique, scene study, specialized theatre training, and skill-centric workshops (such as Stage Combat, Police Tactics, Physical Storytelling, and Shakespeare) from youth to adult. Eager to not only equip our students with technical training, we also offer a series of Acting as a Business classes that include everything from resume cleanup to how to prepare your taxes as an artist to our Essential Actor Bootcamp, a one of a kind class that puts you face to face with some of the best casting directors, agents, and actors in the city. Every one of our classes is taught by working professionals in our community so that you are getting the best training from those perfectly equipped to provide you with technique, advice, and repertoire that is current and relevant to the Chicago scene.
