About the Show

The 18th production for Huggable Riot, Wake Up Call marks the theatre company’s first collaboratively written one-act play. Wake Up Call shows how six friends grapple with running from their circumstances versus being trapped by them, and how grief varies from person-to-person yet unites everyone. In a comedic one-act that utilizes a farcical concierge played by every actor to a disappearance suspected by the hands of Bigfoot, this hour-long play is as dynamic as its millennial cast of characters – which ranges from an incessantly broadcasting YouTube star lacking awareness of his friends to a sister chasing fun to mute her grief. At its heart, Wake Up Call asks what provides individual happiness and how to overcome its obstacles, especially when it’s ourselves.
