AP1 is an all-encompassing survey course that will give anyone a solid foundation in improvisational comedy – whether you want to perform, direct, write, or just know more. New to improv? This class is probably for you. The class culminates into a one night only class show. AP1 introduces you to The Annoyance’s approach to improv by covering a wide variety of concepts:

  • “the rules” and breaking the rules
  • Group mind (the myth, the facts)
  • How to say “no”
  • Creating the game
  • Character driven scene work
  • Initiations
  • Long-form
  • Short-form
  • Writing via improv
  • Direction (taking and giving)
  • Object and environment work

Please make sure that you have read our Class Policy before you register.

If you are signing up for AP3-AP5 please list last Annoyance class you took and the teacher. If you are entering AP2 without having completed the AP1 Prerequisite, please list previous outside experience. If signing up for AP1, please list your favorite fish noise.
