About the Course:
This class is part musical improv, part music appreciation. Students will learn about, and how to improvise in, a variety different styles and genres of music, beyond the musical theatre styles more commonly taught. Each class will be dedicated to a specific style/genre, where the focus will be learning about the vocabulary, themes, physicality, movement, and staging within that week’s focus. This class will also be strongly focused on solo and duet numbers. To be more concise, this is music improv, not musical improv. The goal is to get students to a place where they feel comfortable creating a variety of songs closer to those one might hear on the radio, rather than the stage.
Prerequisite:
Students must have completed Music Improv 3 to enroll in this class.
