About the Course:
Musical Improv I is an introduction to improvising songs, and the art of 'scene into song'. You'll learn how to sing structured songs, create catchy choruses that audiences remember, how to dance the same improvised dance move with seven other people, and how to express honest emotion while getting big laughs. This class will culminate in a one-night-only Musical Improv
class show.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A GOOD SINGER TO BE A GREAT MUSICAL IMPROVISER! All you need is a supportive teacher to help you through the first few anxiety-ridden moments. I was never in choir growing up, and didn't think of myself as a 'singer'--I heard the vibrato of Broadway voices and thought 'I'm DEFINITELY not a singer. 'But it turns out I'm a GREAT singer--I just needed to improvise a few hundred songs to get VERY comfortable with my own voice. So whether you're interested in musical improv, or just want to feel more confident with your own voice, this class is for you.
Prerequisite: Must have taken at least two improv classes at any improv theater.
This class will culminate in an optional student showcase at The Annoyance on the final Sunday fo the term.
Classes meet once a week on the same day each week, M-Thu 6:30-9pm and Sun 1-3:30pm
