About the Course:

Take a Breather: A Clown Workshop

About the Course:

This 3-hour workshop dives into the importance of breath and how it connects to audience response/interpretation of what is happening on stage. Through various clown exercises and games, one will develop a more intimate awareness of their breathing during performance, and see how simple changes can make drastic differences for the audience. Students will also discover how breath can simultaneously affect physical movement as well as the narrative being presented. The workshop approaches concepts using the lens of clown where there is no fourth wall, but the skills and knowledge learned can be applied to any performance medium. Anyone and everyone is encouraged to come learn and play!

Instructor Bio:

Danny Wightkin is a Chicago based, award-winning performer who has been studying and performing clown for over 10 years. He studied internationally in France with clown master Philippe Gaulier, nationally with Avner the Eccentric, and he toured multiple solo shows across the country to critical acclaim. Beyond the world of clown, he enjoys playing creatures in independent horror productions and appearing in whatever show needs a tall, gangly physical performer.
